Job summary

Beacon Software is seeking a strategic Privacy Counsel to build and lead a privacy program across Beacon and its portfolio. You will own end-to-end data privacy across the deal lifecycle, from pre-acquisition diligence through integration and ongoing operations, while advising on day-to-day privacy matters across the platform.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and member in good standing of at least one bar (California, New York, preferred).
  • 7+ years of privacy law experience at a top-tier law firm, or 5–7 years in-house privacy counsel at a tech company.
  • Demonstrated experience building or leading a privacy function with programs, policies, and governance.
  • Deep expertise in multi-jurisdictional privacy law (CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, FERPA; PIPEDA; GDPR).
  • Experience conducting or advising on privacy due diligence in M&A transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Build Beacon’s enterprise data privacy program from inception, defining governance and operating model.
  • Lead privacy due diligence across acquisitions and plan post-close integration.
  • Draft and maintain privacy policies, DPAs, ropas, DSR procedures, and data retention schedules.
  • Collaborate with IT, product, and operations to embed privacy-by-design into systems and processes.
  • Monitor cross-border transfer requirements and advise on international compliance obligations.
  • Lead privacy incident response and coordinate with external counsel and leadership.
