Job summary

Staff Perm is seeking a Machine Maintenance Technician to keep high-speed printing production equipment running on the 1st shift in Lenexa, Kansas. This role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and safe operation to support a fast-paced fulfillment environment.

Responsibilities include inspecting mechanical/electromechanical systems, repairing parts, following schematics, and supporting PLC/automation controls to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; 18+ years old minimum.
• Minimum 3 years of machine maintenance experience on complex equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge for printing/packaging machinery.
• Proficient with basic hand and power tools and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform systematic inspection, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis on mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
• Disassemble machines, replace worn parts, adjust components, and restore operation to spec.
• Follow diagrams, schematics, manuals to ensure repairs meet production needs.
• Clean/ lubricate moving parts, order components, verify tolerances after repair.
• Adapt tools and procedures to resolve equipment issues on the production floor.
• Maintain Sheet Fed Offset Printing Machines and related high-speed printers.
• Work on cutters, folders, inserters, bindery, gearing and drive systems.
• Diagnose and repair low voltage electrical/electronic systems and PLC controls.
• Troubleshoot PLC/automation I/O issues and assist electrical installations.
• Connect laptops to printing machines and manage IP addresses as needed.

We are seeking a dedicated Machine Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation of printing production machinery during the 1st shift in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing complex, high-speed industrial equipment used in printing, finishing, packaging, and mail processing. The technician will work to keep production machinery running safely, efficiently, and within manufacturing specifications to support high volume print and fulfillment operations.

• SCHEDULE: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 6:30am-2:30pm
• PAY RATE: $25/hr

Responsibilities

• Perform systematic inspection, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on mechanical and electromechanical equipment.

• Interpret and follow diagrams, schematics, manuals, and engineering specifications to ensure repairs meet production requirements.

• Adapt tools, materials, and procedures to resolve unique equipment issues and assist in solving complex mechanical or electrical problems across the production floor.
• Maintain Sheet Fed Offset Printing Machines and other high-speed printing and packaging equipment.
• Work on mechanical production machinery including cutters, folders, inserters, bindery equipment, and print-related machines with gears, shafts, bearings, and drive systems.
• Diagnose and repair low voltage electrical and electronic systems such as wiring, motors, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
• Troubleshoot and support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automation controls, including input/output issues and electrical control installations.
• Perform tasks like connecting laptops to printing machines and changing IP addresses.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• 3 years of machine maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge of complex equipment.
• Experience using diagnostic tools including Digital Multimeter (DMM), Clamp meter, Continuity tester, Non-contact voltage tester, and Logic probe for PLC I/O checks.
• Proficient with basic hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic repairs.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow technical diagrams, schematics, manuals, and engineering instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Sheetfed Offset Printing Presses.
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing, print, bindery, inserting, packaging, or fulfillment equipment.
