Job summary

Staff Perm in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Machine Maintenance Technician to service high-speed printing equipment on the 2nd shift. You will perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics to keep production lines running safely, efficiently, and within specifications in a high-volume print and packaging environment.

The role covers preventive maintenance, parts replacement, PLC troubleshooting, wiring and control circuits, alignment checks, and collaboration with operators to ensure equipment uptime

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of machine maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical understanding of complex equipment.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools (DMM, clamp meter, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical equipment through systematic inspection, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Disassemble machines, replace worn or broken parts, adjust mechanical components, and restore equipment to operational standards.
  • Interpret diagrams, schematics, manuals, and engineering specifications to ensure repairs meet production requirements.
  • Clean and lubricate moving parts, order replacement components, and verify that completed repairs meet operational tolerances.
  • Adapt tools, materials, and procedures to address unique equipment issues and serve as a resource for resolving complex mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Work on Sheet Fed Offset Printing Machines and other high-speed commercial printing presses.
  • Maintain mechanical production machinery such as cutters, folders, inserters, bindery equipment, and other print-related machines.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and repair low voltage electrical and electronic systems including wiring, motors, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
  • Troubleshoot and support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related automation controls, including input/output issues and electrical control installations.
  • Perform tasks such as connecting a laptop to printing machines and changing IP addresses.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of prior machine maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical understanding of complex equipment.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools such as Digital Multimeter (DMM), Clamp Meter, Continuity Tester, Non-contact Voltage Tester, and Logic Probe for PLC I/O checks.
  • Proficient use of basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic repairs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow diagrams, schematics, manuals, instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sheetfed Offset Printing Presses.
  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing, print, bindery, inserting, packaging, or fulfillment equipment.
