Job summary

URBN, the parent company of Free People, is seeking an Assistant Print Designer to support textiles and seasonal prints. You will assist in technical development, organize artwork, and ensure assets meet product calendar timelines.

The role emphasizes collaboration, artistic skill, and precision in a fast-paced design environment. The successful candidate will handle CAD layouts, tech packs, file organization, and production-ready artwork, contributing to a streamlined workflow across multiple

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in textile/design or related field.
  • 1–3+ years design experience preferred.
  • Strong foundation in print, textile, or surface design with artistic skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop CAD layouts to visualize artwork placement on garments and generate technical packages.
  • Build clear and detailed tech packs outlining materials, techniques, scale, and color.
  • Maintain structured digital file systems with established naming conventions.
  • Support clean-up, preparation, and finalization of print artwork across product categories.
  • Rework original artwork into production-ready repeats and engineered placements.
  • Assist in compiling seasonal artwork packages in alignment with deadlines.
  • Create and maintain internal print references, overviews, and mood walls.
  • Support strike-off and sampling, including print troubleshooting and coordination with vendors.
  • Upload and manage artwork assets in internal systems.
  • Track artwork-related tasks against calendar milestones.
  • Assist with seasonal administrative responsibilities, including archiving.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve workflows.
  • Operate Epson printers for in-house sampling with accurate scale and color proofs.
