Job summary

URBN is seeking a Director of Technical Design for Free People. The role leads the FP TD team from Assoc Managers to assistant TDs and partners with Design, Production, PD and Buying to drive digital design practices and maintain brand quality.

The role requires mentoring, cross-brand collaboration across URBN brands, and guidance in pattern making, Clo 3D fittings, and garment testing to meet calendar commitments and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Senior Technical Design Management or higher.
• Experienced people manager with leadership of leaders.
• Flexible and adaptable to fast-paced environments with change management.
• Expert in fit standards and construction for knit and woven garments.
• Experience with multiple washes in woven and knit fabrics.
• Knowledge of garment testing and effects of washes on fabrics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the FP TD team through digital transformation and grow 3D capabilities while upholding brand quality.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop FP collection strategy and execute projects.
• Drive calendar management, resource planning, and timely delivery of outputs.
• Mentor teams, share feedback, and promote cross-brand collaboration across URBN.
