Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Principal Water Engineer with deep municipal water treatment expertise to lead complex design-build projects in North America. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, shape treatment strategies, and serve as the trusted technical voice from early process modeling to startup and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in process development and municipal/industrial water design.
• PE registration preferred.
• Experience as process design lead on design-build projects preferred.
• Willing to travel 20–30% (up to 50% if remote).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for municipal water treatment design, including selecting and sizing treatment technologies and developing process flow diagrams and mass balances.
• Serve as technical authority for treatment process decisions, approve critical design deliverables and calculations.
• Mentor Senior and mid-level engineers within the team.
• Establish and enforce Kiewit’s water design standards and best practices.
• Ensure designs are constructible, cost effective and aligned with field execution, supporting reviews and value engineering.
• Lead proposals and pursuits, shaping technical strategy and supporting client interviews.
• Oversee project delivery through multi-disciplinary design teams and ensure quality across all engineering deliverables.
