Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Redondo Beach, CA, is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Systems Engineer to lead architecture definition and MBSE activities for advanced aeronautics programs. The role requires strong systems engineering, MBSE, SysML, and risk management skills to guide design, trade studies, and V&V.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage requirements, and ensure alignment with program schedules and budgets while mentoring engineers and delivering

Qualifications

• BS in STEM with 5+ years, or MS with 3+ years; PhD with 1+ year related experience.
• Active US Government Secret clearance (or higher) with recent background check or Continuous Evaluation.
• Ability to obtain SAP clearance within needed time frame.
• Experience with MBSE and SysML—creating/maintaining models for requirements, design, and verification.
• Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent) with decomposition and traceability.
• Experience in risk management methods and risk-informed design decisions.
• Experience developing system architectures, ICDs, and system-level trade studies.
• Familiarity with SE lifecycle processes (V-model) and INCOSE SE Handbook.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management; able to present complex material clearly.

Responsibilities

• Performs system-level planning, integration, verification and validation, and risk analyses for total systems.
• Analyzes concepts through design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and disposal levels.
• Translates requirements into hardware/software specs within schedule and cost constraints.
• Conducts functional/timeline analyses and trade studies to support architectures and interfaces.
