Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Senior Principal Systems Safety Engineer to support the AISR&T program in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role focuses on applying systems and safety engineering to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across the lifecycle, and to plan safety analyses and validate safety requirements.

The candidate will collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and integration/test teams, produce safety artifacts, and present findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience in systems engineering or systems safety on complex, aerospace/defense-like systems.
• Active US Government Secret clearance or higher (or in Continuous Evaluation).

Responsibilities

• Perform system safety engineering across the lifecycle, including hazard identification, analysis, tracking, and mitigation.
• Develop and maintain safety requirements and ensure allocation, implementation, verification.
• Plan and execute safety analyses (PHA, FHA, SSA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA) and safety validation activities.
