Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to lead substation design for transmission projects and interface with utility and developer clients. You’ll guide deliverables from concept to IFC drawings and mentor teams across North America and globally.

The role emphasizes technical oversight, QA/QC of calculations and drawings, and collaboration with the Energy & Power Group to decarbonize and modernize utility networks.

Qualifications

• 5 years of direct Substation design experience with utility or consulting organization.
• Advanced knowledge of high voltage substation components.
• Experience developing substation designs from concept through IFC drawings.
• Familiarity with grounding, lighting, and protection designs.
• Ability to perform QA/QC of design calculations and drawings.
• Experience with CAD platforms such as Autodesk or Bentley.
• Willingness to mentor junior staff and lead training.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design deliverables for transmission projects.
• Interface with utility/developer clients to develop design deliverables.
• Provide technical oversight as Owner’s Engineer or Owner’s Representative.
• Mentor North America and global team members.
• Support sales and proposal efforts with technical input.
• Perform field visits and site support during construction.
