Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Power Systems Engineer – Strategic Projects to lead high-voltage substation and transmission initiatives, supporting system modernization, renewables integration, and strategic investments.

You will perform advanced system studies, guide design activities, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to deliver critical infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• 12+ years of utility, transmission, substation, or power systems experience.
• Experience with high-voltage systems ranging from 69kV through 500kV.
• Familiarity with substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, instrument transformers, protection and control, and bus configurations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support high-voltage substation and transmission projects across planning, design, and construction phases.
• Perform engineering studies, load-flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, reliability, and power-quality analyses.
• Develop scopes, specs, design criteria, and engineering recommendations for projects.
• Coordinate lifecycle activities from planning to closeout and implement emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to advance modernization efforts.
