Job summary

Cerence is seeking an experienced Principal SRE to lead and own the reliability of our cloud-native automotive AI platform. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes technical direction, observability, and blameless incident management across a global team.

You will set the reliability roadmap, govern SLIs/SLAs, manage on-call readiness, and drive automation for scalable service delivery in a hybrid/remote work model.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on site reliability, DevOps, or cloud platform roles; leadership experience
• Strong technical credibility with ability to lead without formal authority
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Istio)
• Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure focus; AWS/GCP beneficial)
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, dashboards)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Flux)
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Shell)
• UNIX/Linux background; network fundamentals (DNS, HTTP/S, TLS)
• Excellent written and verbal English communication

Responsibilities

• Lead SRE team across multiple locations with technical authority
• Define reliability roadmap, SLI/SLO/SLA targets, and on-call model
• Serve as Tier 2 escalation point and drive blameless postmortems
• Drive observability strategy, metrics, dashboards, and alerting
• Spearhead CI/CD automation and infrastructure-as-code initiatives
• Collaborate with development to embed reliability in the SDLC
• Architect reviews, reliability consulting, and risk communications
