Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded software development across multiple product lines, drive product ownership, and ensure security and reliability of critical systems.

You will mentor teams, drive Agile planning, coordinate hardware/software integration, and deliver secure, high-quality software in a fast-paced environment requiring a secret clearance from day one.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of relevant experience OR advanced degree with 5+ years of experience OR 12 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. secret clearance is required; U.S. citizenship required.
• Software development and integration experience with embedded C and C++ product software.
• Experience with full lifecycle software development practices and configuration management tools.
• Knowledge/experience in embedded security software development and integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development and integration on a multi-threaded embedded C++ product codebase.
• Serve as Product Owner within Agile environment; manage and prioritize product backlogs.
• Lead Agile planning, PI planning, sprint planning, and backlog refinement.
• Define requirements, implement software, and support test case development and verification.
• Coordinate dependencies across software, hardware, FPGA, and systems engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote Agile practices and continuous improvement.
• Enhance security and reliability of critical communications infrastructure.
