Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Embedded Systems Security Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA, to lead Secure System Development Life Cycle efforts across avionics products. You’ll work with system and software teams to identify risks, apply security controls, and drive secure architecture and testing strategies.

A SECRET clearance is required and relocation support is available. The role emphasizes threat modeling, security testing, RMF compliance, and mentoring engineers while contributing

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years of experience or an Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
• Experience in product cybersecurity, embedded software engineering, or secure system design.

Responsibilities

• Be the security subject matter expert and lead for programs; work with system and software teams.
• Analyze systems to identify attack vectors and assess risks for new and existing products.
• Advise program leaders on inclusion of security technologies in product roadmaps.
• Ensure proper implementation of security measures during product development.
• Develop, deploy and automate security tools and testing for identifying product security flaws.
• Characterize security vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigations for products.
• Guide adherence to RMF processes and DO-326A/DO-356A Airworthiness Security.
• Foster organizational adoption of the Avionics SSDLC.
• Evaluate and contribute to technical proposals and bids/pursuits.
• Mentor junior product security engineers advancing their skills.
