Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Software Engineer to join our on-site team in San Diego, Palmdale, El Segundo, or Oklahoma City. The candidate will work in a Models & Simulation IPT, developing modular simulation software in C++ and Python and delivering software releases within the integrated product team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of related engineering experience, or advanced degrees with fewer years.
• Experience developing software in C/C++.
• Experience with change control tools (Atlassian, GitHub, GitLab).
• Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain SAP access.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain modular simulation and modeling software (C++, Python) to support system behaviors.
• Integrate simulation components with interfaces and test harnesses; ensure data flows and real-time performance.
• Design and execute verification and validation tests; analyze results and fix defects to ensure fidelity.
• Optimize simulation performance and scalability; support CI/CD for automated builds and deployments.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into simulation scenarios and documentation.
