Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Sr Principal Embedded & Real Time Software Engineer to join a team delivering flight-critical software. The role supports on-site work in San Diego or Palmdale, CA, requiring strong C/C++/Python skills and deep experience with RTOS and real-time embedded systems.

The candidate will participate in full SDLC, collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and test engineers, and operate in Agile Scrum environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
• Experience with the full SW Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Experience with C, C++, and Python
• Experience with developing multi-threaded software for flight/mission critical systems
• Experience with two of the following tools: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Coverity
• Experience with Agile SW development, embedded system programming, SW integration and testing
• Familiarity with data interfaces: 1553, 1394, 422, 429, Serial, CAN, Ethernet/IP, Fibre Channel
• Active in-Scope, U.S. Government Top Secret clearance and SAP/PAR eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and cross-functional teams
• Participate in full software development life cycle from requirements to delivery
• Develop embedded software for real-time operating systems used in flight and mission critical systems
• Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software baselines
