Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join on-site in San Diego, CA, El Segundo, CA, Palmdale, CA or Oklahoma City, OK. You will lead the Models & Simulation team, directing software planning, integration, and delivery across IPTs.

The role requires a strong background in C++ and Python, SDLC expertise, and experience with software architecture and verification. On-site work is required with up to 25% travel; Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the development, implementation, and maintenance of modular simulation and modeling software (C++, Python).
• Lead the integration of simulation components with system interfaces, middleware, and test harnesses; establish integration strategies and ensure data flows and real-time performance.
• Define and oversee verification and validation strategies; review test plans and results; direct defect resolution to ensure model fidelity.
• Drive performance and scalability optimization; set profiling priorities, reduce latency; champion CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Coordinate with engineers, testers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into simulation capabilities and lead technical demonstrations.
