Job summary

Collins Aerospace, based in Melbourne, FL, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead software engineering for avionics products. The role emphasizes rigorous DO-178B DAL-A compliance, real-time embedded systems, and avionics navigation expertise in a challenging aerospace environment.

The candidate will perform complex testing, build and integration, and collaboration across cross-functional teams to deliver reliable flight-critical software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with 8 years of aerospace software experience
• Or Master’s degree with 5 years of aerospace software experience
• 5+ years in Avionics Navigation Systems
• 5+ years in DO-178B on DAL-A products
• 5+ years in C/C++ development
• 5+ years in Real-time Embedded Systems development
• Non-US Person must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; no immigration sponsorship offered

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and conduct complex tests and debug control and diagnostic systems with logical/mathematical solutions.
• Collaborate with project team members on planning, design, development and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Design and implement build procedures to support hardware/software product development and function.
• Recommend changes in software production components to improve activities.
• Determine end-user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems and input data acquisition
