Job summary

Q2 is a leading provider of digital banking and lending solutions. We are looking for a Principal Engineer to own architectural direction, build broadly impactful systems, and drive AI-enabled automation across the company.

You will shape problems, frame them clearly, and propel cross-functional teams toward scalable, secure solutions. You’ll design and ship end-to-end platforms, leverage AI to automate responses, and partner with executives to ensure measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with 5+ years of experience
• Strong proficiency in backend and scripting languages (C#, Go, Python)
• Experience building and consuming APIs at scale
• Knowledge of containerized applications and cloud-native environments
• Advanced experience with Grafana, Splunk, and telemetry pipelines
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience designing self-service tools for observability data access
• Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, app, and network layers
• Knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services and/or NGINX websites
• Knowledge and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat or CentOS

Responsibilities

• Decide what should exist. Frame it so engineers and executives both get it, and set the technical direction the team aligns to.
• Build it end to end. Take ambiguous problems to operable solutions, including deep code work when needed.
• Build with AI as a first-class tool. Extend our AI platform to resolve alerts with minimal human intervention.
• Replace bottlenecks, don’t optimize them. Re-architect risky paths into secure self-service tools with guardrails.
• Multiply the org. Create platforms, patterns, and standards others build on; grow a bench of builders.
• Make the work legible. Socialize designs with leaders and keep plans visible as you go.
• Own what you ship. Include light on-call for the things you build.
