Citizens seeks a Principal Software Engineer to drive architecture, mentor engineers, and lead engineering excellence across cloud-native, AI-powered initiatives.

You will shape system design, implement secure, scalable solutions, and guide teams through modern development practices while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. This role focuses on secure, compliant AI-enabled software in a financial services context.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience delivering and supporting commercial software applications.
• Strong experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
• Experience with Node.js and modern Node.js frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Strong understanding of authentication and security protocols including OAuth and SAML.
• Experience containerizing apps using Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Cloud platform experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Jenkins, Harness, Git, Bitbucket, Nexus).
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop full-stack applications while aligning with enterprise architecture standards.
• Participate in Agile software development and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Develop modern application components, tools, and services that support business objectives.
• Build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Apply security best practices throughout the SDLC and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence and innovation.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology strategy.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and design agentic workflows across the SDLC.
