Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to design and build scalable software powering OCI networks. The role focuses on crafting platforms, APIs, automation services, and operational systems for a globally distributed infrastructure.

You will own solutions end-to-end, collaborate with network and infrastructure teams, and drive improvements in reliability, performance, and automation. Knowledge of AI-assisted tools and modern engineering practices is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong software engineering experience in Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Experience designing scalable APIs, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures.
• Design software architectures that emphasize modularity, extensibility, maintainability, and long-term operational sustainability.
• Experience building and operating production engineering platforms.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
• Experience supporting Linux-based production environments.
• Experience designing highly available, resilient, and observable systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve software development and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production software supporting OCI network deployment and lifecycle management.
• Build and evolve engineering platforms, APIs, automation services, and operational systems for OCI's global network infrastructure.
• Own software solutions throughout their lifecycle from architecture to deployment and operations.
• Develop scalable automation using modern programming languages and software engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and best practices.
• Lead design discussions and contribute to long-term NRB engineering platform architecture.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, deployment workflows, and release processes.
• Tackle production issues across distributed systems and troubleshoot networking problems.
