Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Principal Scientist to lead physics-based engineering simulations within Development Sciences and Clinical Supply Digital Technologies, focusing on biologics and multi-modality pipeline scale-up.

You will apply CFD and transport phenomena modeling to bioreactor mixing, develop and validate scale-down models, and mentor junior scientists while shaping modeling standards and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 6+ (MS) or 8+ (PhD) years of pharma experience.
• Deep expertise in CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM) and transport phenomena.
• Strong background in mixing, mass transfer, and bioreactor scale-up.
• Experience in process development, simulation validation, and scale-down modeling.
• Scripting skills in Python or MATLAB.

Principal Scientist leading physics-based engineering simulations within the Development Sciences and Clinical Supply Digital Technologies organization, focusing on biologics and multi-modality pipeline scale-up.

Responsibilities

• apply CFD and transport phenomena modeling to bioreactor mixing, gassing, and other unit operations
• develop and validate scale-down models
• mentor junior scientists
• shape modeling standards and roadmap
• support process characterization for scale-up/scale-down decisions across biologics and small molecules

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields with 6+ or 8+ years of industrial/pharma experience
• expertise in CFD tools like ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM
• strong background in transport phenomena, mixing, and mass transfer
• experience in bioreactor scale-up, process development, and simulation validation
• scripting skills in Python or MATLAB

Preferred

• experience with biologics bioprocessing, shear-sensitive biologics, single-use systems, multiphase modeling, and data-driven coupling
