Job summary

Capital One in McLean, VA, is seeking a Principal Risk Associate for the Well Managed Team within Business Cards & Payments to help advance risk maturity, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive automation and data-driven improvements across processes.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage multiple initiatives autonomously, and partner with the GenAI Director to implement scalable, technology-forward controls aligned with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
• 4+ years in Risk Management, Project Management, Process Management, Compliance, or Audit
• 3+ years working with business and risk teams on cross-functional initiatives
• 5+ years of experience in Risk Management, Project Management, Process Management, Compliance, or Audit
• Proven track record of transforming operational workflows and enhancing process maturity through automation, data-driven insights, and technology-led solutions
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous environments and manage multiple priorities autonomously
• Experience leveraging automation tools such as GenAI, workflow automation, or data visualization

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Oversight: Working with the business to ensure proper implementation of processes/programs to be compliant with new regulatory laws like Dodd-Frank Section 1071.
• GenAI Governance: Partner with GenAI Director to ensure a well managed approach for GenAI across BC&P pre and post implementation.
• LAUNCH Initiative: Partnering with key stakeholders to ensure the LAUNCH is efficient for BC&P by monitoring and managing the implementation of the change initiative, track progress, adjust as needed.
