Job summary

FIRST RF is seeking an experienced Principal RF Engineer to provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of advanced RF and microwave systems. You will mentor engineers and lead multidisciplinary teams, interfacing with customers to advance concepts through production.

A strong background in RF design, antenna theory, and EMI/EMC considerations is essential. You will drive technical strategy across divisions, contribute to proposals, and guide projects with emphasis on cost, schedule,

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field
• Experience analyzing/integrating RF devices and networks (amplifiers, filters, attenuators, phase shifters, mixers)
• Experience with antenna design, testing, modeling
• Proficiency with MATLAB or Python for analysis and automation
• Extensive RF lab experience (VNA, spectrum analyzers)
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead multidisciplinary teams
• Strong written/verbal communication and customer-facing skills

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for complex RF/microwave system development
• Lead design, analysis, integration, verification of RF hardware/systems
• Develop innovative customer solutions from proposal to product delivery
• Interface with customers for reviews and program status
• Provide engineering leadership across multiple projects and scopes
• Lead technical discussions with partners (govt, commercial, subs)
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and guidance
• Establish engineering best practices and standards
• Conduct design reviews and risk assessments
• Support business development with papers, proposals, roadmaps
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments
• Foster collaboration across RF, antenna, digital, embedded software, and mechanical teams
