Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a seasoned mechanical commissioning oversight engineer to ensure HVAC and life safety systems meet design requirements and turnover readiness. You will review procedures, coordinate with end-users, and resolve vendor issues to keep projects on schedule.

Ideal candidates hold advanced degrees in a technical field and have substantial experience in facility commissioning, drawing interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration within DOE-related projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with 9+ years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree in a related field with 7+ years; or
  • Doctorate in a related field with 3+ years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical commissioning oversight for HVAC, exhaust systems, heat recovery units, life safety mechanical systems and other facility equipment.
  • Review scripts, Pre Test Checklists (PTCs), mechanical test procedures, and installation quality to ensure design requirements and turnover readiness.
  • Support walkdowns with end-users, validate redline drawing accuracy, resolve vendor issues, and coordinate training and testing logistics.
