Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer/Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer in Roy, UT to collaborate across engineering teams on Environmental Control System hardware requirements, designs, and analyses for Sentinel program milestones.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 5–8 years of related experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain Secret and SAP clearances; expertise in HVAC sizing and procurement workflows is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field
• 5+ years (level 3) or 8+ years (level 4) of relevant experience
• U.S. Citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools - PowerPoint, Excel, Word
• Ability to understand and interpret requirements
• Must be able to work independently, in a dynamic environment, and adapt to changing direction

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to decompose technical requirements, develop complete and verifiable requirements, and conduct trade studies
• Generate and update specifications within Systems Engineering framework for release to suppliers
• Develop design and analysis artifacts to support design reviews and hardware procurement workflows
• Perform heating and cooling calculations to size HVAC equipment
• Select appropriate HVAC equipment to meet size and system requirements
• Review and provide comments to supplier-submitted drawings and contractual deliveries

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) license
