Job summary

AMD’s advanced packaging organization seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to shape mechanical architecture for next‑gen HPC, AI, and semiconductor products. You will lead concept definition, mechanical design, simulation, qualification, and manufacturing ramp, influencing product direction across package, server, and rack systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive CAD design and thermal‑mechanical FEA, and partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust cooling solutions and high‑quality

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal‑mechanical architecture and solution strategy for advanced packaging.
• Drive design, analysis, and integrated solution development from concept to production.
• Guide stress, warpage, and package‑board interaction modeling with FEA.
• Collaborate with silicon, packaging, thermal, reliability, and supplier teams.
• Lead DFMA, FMEA, DVP&R, ECO governance, and supplier ramp to volume.
• Conduct qualification, failure analysis, and root‑cause investigations across NPI and production.
