Job summary

AMD is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center Platform Engineering group in Austin. You will drive mechanical design for flagship server and GPU platforms, shaping high‑power systems and manufacturability across programs.

You will collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and validation teams, lead engineering reviews, and mentor peers while influencing technical direction and product strategy across AMD’s data center portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Strong CAD skills with Creo or SolidWorks.
• Experience with server hardware and high‑power systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for server and GPU platforms.
• Develop detailed designs and prototypes; validate through simulation, analysis, and physical testing.
• Collaborate with system architecture, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive product development and system reliability.
• Represent AMD in technical reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.
• Provide consultative direction on mechanical strategy and trade-offs to leadership.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-functional collaboration across boundaries.
• Make critical decisions impacting multiple product families and customer satisfaction.
