Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support production in Charlottesville, VA. The role emphasizes design and optimization of wire harness manufacturing, process development, and collaboration with shop-floor teams to ensure quality and efficiency.

The position requires a STEM degree with 5+ years (Principal) or 8+ years (Senior Principal) of experience, CAD skills, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a STEM field with relevant manufacturing experience.
• Experience with wire harnesses, connectors, soldering tools and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read wiring schematics and GD&T from drawings.
• CAD experience and shop-floor training skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes for wire harness assemblies and layout.
• Specifies operations sequences and production procedures.
• Adapts designs to factory conditions and includes inspection requirements.
• Assesses machinery performance and ensures product quality.
• Guides design concepts and adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with assemblers, supervisors, and operations staff.
• Drives cost- and time-conscious manufacturing with budget awareness.
• Travels to suppliers to achieve positive outcomes.
• Promotes continuous improvement and NG values.
