Northrop Grumman Corporation, Mission Systems, is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the PCS team at the Sykesville, MD facility.

The role focuses on developing and improving manufacturing processes for advanced electro-mechanical assemblies, with emphasis on affordability and readiness reviews. The position requires a STEM degree and significant manufacturing/process engineering experience, including 3D CAD modeling and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS in a STEM field with 5+ years in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area OR MS with 3+ years.
• Experience with MS Office applications.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering support role.
• Experience developing new processes in a cross-functional team.
• 3D CAD modeling experience using a CAD software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain or improve manufacturing processes with focus on affordability.
• Lead Manufacturing Readiness Review for new design efforts.
• Provide ROI justification for process improvements.
• Create and manage project plans for process development activities.
• Create and document designs for tooling using CAD and PLM.
• Specify and procure new manufacturing equipment for production readiness.
• Develop and optimize process parameters.
• Develop and revise process documentation and work instructions.
• Monitor yields and costs to drive improvements.
• Support training of new personnel and design of operations training materials.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.
• Recommend product design improvements for advanced assemblies.
• Document novel process capabilities and guidelines for designers.
• Participate in design readiness and producibility reviews.
• Provide supplier support as needed.
• Provide RFP input related to tooling, capital equipment, and/or new process development.
