Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks Manufacturing Engineer or Principal Manufacturing Engineer in Charlottesville, VA, to support production and manufacturing operations. The role focuses on wiring harness processes, plant layouts, and continuous improvement within a secure government-oriented setting.

The candidate will collaborate with shop floor teams, apply CAD tools and lean methods, and ensure compliance with GD&T and specifications while advancing efficiency and throughput on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience in manufacturing engineering or related fields.
• Experience with wire harnesses, connectors, assembling, crimping tools, hand tools and troubleshooting.
• Experience reading wiring schematics and GD&T; blueprints and specifications.
• CAD experience including AutoCAD or similar software.
• Experience with design and improvement of facility layouts and workstations to maximize spatial efficiency.
• Experience conducting time and motion studies to establish standard work definitions and labor standards.
• Onsite work at Charlottesville plant with start time of 6:00AM and ability to obtain SECRET clearance.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for wire harness work cell.
• Develops and optimizes plant configurations and product routing for efficient flow between cells.
• Analyzes lead times, queue times, WIP and throughput to meet customer demand.
• Interfaces with assemblers and operators to ensure process compliance and continuous improvement.
• Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specifications for manufacturing.
