Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support production and manufacturing operations in Charlottesville, VA. The role designs processes, ensures quality, and drives continuous improvement on wire harness assemblies, while coordinating with operators and shop floor teams.

Eligible candidates hold a STEM degree with 5+ years (8+ for senior) and have CAD, GD&T, and LEAN experience; US citizenship and ability to obtain SECRET clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline with 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, electrical, mechanical, or production.
• Or a Master’s Degree with 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, electrical, mechanical, or production.
• Experience with wire harnesses, connectors, assembling, solder irons, crimping tools, hand tools, solder pots and troubleshooting.
• Experience with lab tools like multimeters and low-bandwidth oscilloscopes to troubleshoot and aid in modification and repair of PCBs.
• Experience reading and interpreting wiring schematics, GD&T, blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and layouts for assemblies and material handling.
• Incorporates inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Inspects machinery and tools for efficiency and reliability.
• Drives continuous improvement and cost reduction.
• Interfaces with assemblers and cell supervisors on shop floor.
• Ensures compliance with regulations and quality standards.
• Travels to suppliers as needed to achieve outcomes.
