Job summary

Rosterfy is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to set technical direction across two product squads, while staying deeply hands-on. You will focus on architecture for event-driven and AI-augmented features, spanning PHP/Laravel backend, Next.js frontend, and AWS/GCP infrastructure.

You will spend a large portion coding, reviewing, and pairing, while shaping engineering standards, architecture, and long-term platform evolution. Leadership is through influence, not direct reports.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, including senior/architect roles in SaaS.
• Deep backend experience with Laravel and PHP8+, SQL and RESTful APIs.
• Strong frontend experience with React/Next.js.
• Experience with scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerization (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with event-driven or modular architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical direction for core platform.
• Spend 60–80% hands-on: design, code, review, and debugging in Laravel, Next.js, and cloud environments.
• Lead the technical discovery and delivery of high-impact initiatives across team boundaries.
• Define, document, and evangelize architectural principles, coding standards, and patterns for scalable systems.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, pairing, and feedback.

AboutTheRole

AsaPrincipalSoftwareEngineeratRosterfy,youarethemostseniorindividualcontributorintheengineeringteam,responsibleforsettingtechnicaldirectionwhilestayingdeeplyhands-on.Youworkacrossourtwoproductsquadsasaforcemultiplier:designingarchitecture,pairingonhardproblems,andunblockingdeliveryoncriticalinitiatives.ReportingtotheHoE,youconnectproductstrategytoimplementationdetail,ensuringtheclient’sv3(event-driven,domain-driven,AI-augmented)isrobust,scalable,andmaintainableacrossourPHP/Laravelbackend,Next.jsfrontend,andAWS/GCPinfrastructure.Youspendasignificantportionofyourtimebuilding(coding,reviewing,debugging,pairing)whilealsoshapingengineeringstandards,architecture,andlong-termplatformevolution.Youdonotmanagepeopledirectly;instead,youleadthroughtechnicalexcellence,influence,andmentoring.

KeyResponsibilities:

• Ownthearchitectureandtechnicaldirectionforcoreplatformdomainsusedbybothsquads(e.g.event-drivenworkflows,modularboundaries,AIcapabilities).
