Job summary

CI&T is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to lead complex system modernization initiatives, combining architecture leadership with AI-assisted engineering practices. You will own modernization missions from scope to execution, collaborating with engineering teams and client stakeholders to modernize legacy environments and drive evolution of large-scale systems.

Qualifications

Experience leading system modernization projects in architecture/leadership roles.
Plan transition architectures for complex legacy environments.
Hands-on refactoring of legacy systems, including DB stored procedures.
Knowledge of legacy Microsoft IE5 HTCs and DHTML architectures.
Proven use of AI tools to generate documentation from code under analysis.
Practical knowledge of reverse engineering, SDD, and automated test generation.
Ability to own a mission end-to-end and evolve it with the team.
Strong architectural and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
Comfort working in ambiguity and evolving requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical direction of legacy modernization initiatives from assessment through deployment.
Analyze applications, architectures, dependencies, databases, and business logic to understand legacy environments.
Define and plan transition architectures and modernization strategies, including refactoring.
Guide modernization of database components, including stored procedures and logic.
Use AI tooling to generate high-quality technical documentation supporting decisions and execution.
Apply AI-driven development workflows, reverse engineering, SDD, and test generation.
Translate mission scope into actionable technical plans and evolve them.
Take end-to-end ownership of technical delivery and guide the engineering team.
Support architecture decisions, technical analysis, and troubleshooting during implementation.
Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and architectural decisions clearly to stakeholders.
Act as a trusted interface between client stakeholders and a fast-paced engineering team.
