Job summary

Deckers Brands is seeking a Principal, Financial Operations & Software Asset Management to own FinOps and SAM governance, dashboards, and cost optimization across technology investments. You will partner with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Product, and Security to translate data into actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information tech, engineering, finance or related field.
• 10+ years in FinOps, cloud financial management, SAM or related disciplines.
• Experience establishing governance and reporting in complex organizations and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong in FinOps, cloud financial management, SAM governance, budgeting, forecasting, allocation, showback, and chargeback concepts.
• Experience with cloud services, SaaS platforms, software licensing, and AI consumption.
• Proficient in data analysis, financial modeling, dashboard design, KPI development, and executive reporting (Power BI and Excel).
• Understanding software licensing, vendor/contract analysis, renewal planning, cost optimization, and playbooks.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve Deckers’ FinOps processes, operating model, and governance.
• Partner with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Product, Architecture, Security to embed FinOps into planning and delivery.
• Design and maintain reusable dashboards, scorecards, and reporting assets for visibility into technology cost and consumption.
• Establish data definitions, tagging, allocation standards, and reporting that translate cost and utilization data into insights.
• Mature SAM processes across licenses, SaaS, renewals, entitlements, and utilization; improve inventory visibility and renewal readiness.
• Identify opportunities to reclaim unused licenses and optimize subscriptions while supporting business needs.
• Analyze cloud, software, platform, data, and AI consumption to surface cost drivers, risks, and optimization opportunities.
• Develop recommendations balancing cost, performance, resilience, security, and business value; collaborate with stakeholders on decisions.
• Maintain an optimization opportunity pipeline and track cost savings and value measures.
• Empower teams with playbooks, training, and self-service resources to improve FinOps and SAM.
