Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technology vision and execution for our Trust & Safety organization in New York. This role focuses on protecting customers, partners and products across risk vectors including access and identity integrity, misuse, and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with Product, Data Science, Security, Compliance, Risk and Operations to create end-to-end solutions that keep customers safe while enabling innovation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and building large-scale, distributed backend systems.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java (JVM, Spring/Spring Boot, microservices).
• Experience with risk, security, safety, identity, access, or compliance systems.
• Strong API design, performance, concurrency, and fault-tolerance.
• Experience deploying cloud-native services on AWS, GCP or equivalent.
• Experience integrating ML models into production systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Trust & Safety architecture across risk vectors and product offerings.
• Design end-to-end technical solutions for access, identity, risk, and compliance controls.
• Develop core services and decisioning components in Java in cloud-native environments.
• Partner with data science/ML teams to productionize models for risk scoring and classification.
• Apply AI/LLM techniques to automate risk triage and classification.
• Define evaluation metrics and experimentation to improve protection with minimal friction.
• Drive reliability, performance, observability, and operational excellence for safety-critical systems.
• Ensure security and privacy by design in architectures.
