Intuit, Inc. seeks a Principal Engineer to lead the technology vision for its Trust & Safety organization in New York.

You will drive AI-enabled risk detection, maintain secure-by-design practices, and partner with Product, Data Science, Security, Compliance, Risk, and Operations to deliver end-to-end, scalable safety solutions. You will mentor engineers, influence roadmaps, and contribute to architecture reviews across teams to ensure safety and regulatory compliance is built into customer

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java (JVM, Spring/Spring Boot, microservices).
• Experience with cloud-native services on AWS, GCP, or equivalent (containers, Kubernetes, managed data stores).
• Experience integrating ML models into production systems (serving, re-training, evaluation).
• Strong observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerting, SLOs, high-availability services.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Trust & Safety architecture across risk vectors with scalable, secure capabilities.
• Design end-to-end technical solutions protecting access, risk in critical flows, and regulatory controls.
• Implement core services and decisioning components using Java in cloud-native environments.
• Partner with data science and ML teams to productionize models in decision flows.
• Define evaluation strategies and experiments to improve protection while minimizing friction.
• Drive reliability, performance, observability, and operational excellence for safety-critical systems.
• Mentor engineers on software engineering, system design, and operational rigor.
• Lead design reviews and cross-team architecture decisions.
