Lumata Health, a remote-first healthcare technology company, seeks a Principal Engineer to serve as the CTO's technical right hand, translating complex concepts into shipped, reliable solutions. You will lead a lean contractor team and own system quality, targeting scalable patient-facing apps and internal platforms.

This role emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and delivering measurable outcomes while migrating core workflows from Salesforce to a company-owned platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record of owning and delivering production systems end-to-end in a hands-on engineering capacity.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments with limited structure or resources.
• Experience overseeing or collaborating with contractors, vendors, or distributed teams.
• Exposure to healthcare environments, HIPAA/PHI/BAA considerations, or ability to ramp up in regulated domains.

Responsibilities

• CTO partnership: translate vision into execution plans, sprint priorities, and resourcing.
• Independent AI-driven delivery: own initiatives end-to-end from concept to production.
• Contractor and vendor oversight: scope projects, set standards, ensure quality, mentor a lean team.
• Guardrails and quality: build review processes and guardrails for AI-generated work handling patient data.
• Institutional knowledge: document systems and processes to reduce key-person risk.
• Salesforce transition support: design, build, and validate new internal systems, manage data integrity and change management.
• Team collaboration: support transition to AI-first development and new ways of working.
• Product & app delivery: oversee patient-facing app and internal systems with CI/CD and release management.
• Data security & compliance: HIPAA-ready practices across migration and operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
