Job summary

Protera Health is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join as the senior technical backbone. You will own day-to-day execution, write production code, and drive key systems end-to-end within a remote-first, healthcare-focused environment.

You’ll collaborate with clinicians, enrollment, analytics, and operations leaders. Expect to code full-time, own major platforms, and turn complex workflows into robust software that scales with patient needs.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on Elixir/Phoenix including LiveView.
• Experience with AI engineering techniques and tools.
• Strong full-stack ability with APIs and backend systems, Python and data engineering.
• Experience building and operating production systems used by real customers.
• Strong database experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational systems.
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure, monitoring, security, and production support.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Meaningful healthcare tech experience in HIPAA-regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day technical execution and write production code.
• Lead major systems and make critical technical decisions.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability.
• Turn healthcare workflows into durable software.
• Own patient onboarding, clinician workflows, enrollment tooling, and data pipelines.
• Develop integrations with EMRs/CRMs and analytics tools.
• Build AI-assisted internal tools to improve speed and leverage.
• Ensure platform security, observability, and maintainability.
