Gap Inc. is building an enterprise AI agent platform to enable teams across the company to create, deploy, govern, and operate AI-powered solutions at scale.

As a Principal Engineer, you will define the technical foundation, build core services, and establish guardrails that ensure security, compliance, and reliability across the platform. You will work across AI, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and governance, partnering with Security and Cloud teams to set standards and coach

Formación

• Extensive experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with production LLMs, generative AI, or agent-based solutions.
• Expert Python development skills.
• Knowledge of agent architectures and orchestration patterns.
• Experience with retrieval systems, embeddings, and vector search.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud: Vertex AI, GKE, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub.
• Security-first design: workload identity, OAuth, policy-as-code.
• Strong focus on observability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and lead through expertise.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build core platform services for enterprise AI agent development.
• Define architecture, patterns, and standards for the AI agent platform.
• Develop a centralized model gateway for routing, governance, and cost.
• Build agent runtime capabilities for long-running workflows.
• Implement secure identity, authorization, and policy enforcement.
• Create context management, memory, retrieval, and data isolation.
• Develop testing, evaluation, and release frameworks for quality and safety.
• Add observability, auditability, and operational tooling.
• Collaborate with Security, Data Governance, and Cloud teams on guardrails.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across teams.
