Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer in Austin, TX for a contract role targeting aerospace flight control and propulsion systems. The work centers on platform software, processor bring-up, BSPs, bootloaders, multicore ARM, and RTOS integration.

You will design and implement SMP/MCP frameworks, optimize SoC performance, and collaborate with systems, hardware, and controls engineers throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing low-level embedded software in C/C++.
• Experience with bare-metal embedded development.
• Experience with bootloaders, BSPs, device drivers, or processor initialization software.
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Experience with multicore processors, embedded architectures, or ARM-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate low-level embedded software for aerospace control systems.
• Develop bare-metal software, bootloaders, BSPs, and processor initialization routines.
• Perform processor bring-up and hardware enablement for multicore ARM SoC platforms.
• Configure and optimize SoC capabilities for real-time and safety-critical applications.
• Architect and implement SMP and MCP software frameworks.
• Develop benchmarking methodologies for SoC performance evaluation.
• Analyze and mitigate multicore interference to ensure deterministic behavior.
• Integrate and optimize RTOS for flight control and aerospace applications.
• Design interfaces and protocols including TSN, PCIe, AFDX, etc.
