Job summary

Oho Group in Austin is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to join their engineering team. You will design, develop, and debug embedded firmware for production hardware, bringing up microcontrollers and real-time systems.

This hands-on role emphasizes close collaboration with hardware, writing high-quality C/C++, using RTOS or bare-metal environments, and building Python-based tools for validation. You will work across firmware, electronics, and system integration to ship real deployed hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional embedded software/firmware experience.
• Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded development.
• Strong Python scripting/programming skills.
• Experience with embedded software testing and validation.
• Proven ability to debug firmware on real hardware.
• Comfortable working across the hardware/software interface.

We’re working with a fast-growing technology company developing sophisticated connected hardware products and looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to join their Austin engineering team.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware. You'll be developing firmware, bringing up microcontrollers, debugging real-time systems, and taking embedded software from initial development through rigorous testing and production.

The Role

• Design, develop, and debug embedded firmware for production hardware
• Develop high-quality C/C++ for resource-constrained, real-time systems
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers and bare-metal environments
• Work with RTOS and real-time operating systems
• Build Python-based tools and automation for development, testing, and validation
• Bring up new hardware and troubleshoot issues across the hardware/software boundary
• Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and hardware-level testing

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional embedded software/firmware experience
• Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded development
• Strong Python scripting/programming skills
• Experience with embedded software testing and validation
• Proven ability to debug firmware on real hardware
• Comfortable working across the hardware/software interface

Bonus Points

• ARM-based microcontroller experience
• STM32, NXP, TI, Nordic, or similar platforms
• Experience with SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, or Ethernet
• Hardware-in-the-loop or automated test infrastructure
• Experience taking firmware from prototype through production
