Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids to design and develop secure military communication systems, interfacing with multi-discipline teams to meet domestic and international customer needs.

The role requires active SECRET clearance, US citizenship, and a strong background in systems development, requirements analysis, and verification. Onsite work with opportunities for growth within the Mission Systems Secure Systems Department.

Qualifications

• Experience with the systems development process including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, and transition to production.
• Experience with tools such as DOORS, CAMEO or similar; Software Languages such as Rust and Python.
• Active and transferable SECRET clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required. Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis's, architecture and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Perform functional analysis's, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Provide analyses for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total system solutions.
• Lead a Systems Engineering Development Effort, Including delegation and mentorship with junior engineers.
• Perform bid and proposal efforts.
