Job summary

K2 Space is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for scale-up of spacecraft electronics manufacturing. You will partner with design early, ensure manufacturability, build prototypes, and shape the flow for production.

Lead DFX for PCBs/PCBA and assemblies and drive transition to high-rate production. In the first 6 months you will define manufacturing flows for electronic subsystems, develop tooling for integrated avionics, and champion Design-for-Excellence across PCBs, machined

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering field.
• 10+ years in high-volume, rapid production with manufacturing/engineering focus.
• Strong IPC-A-610/IPC-A-600/J-STD-001 workmanship knowledge.
• Experience setting up first article builds and transitioning to high-rate production.
• Proficiency in DFX and guidance across PCBs, PCBAs, and assemblies.
• Familiarity with GD&T and mechanical drawings review.
• Knowledge of conformal coating inspection/rework per IPC-CC-830 and NASA-STD-8739.1.
• Ability to set policy and mitigate manufacturing risk across programs.
• Experience with tools/automation to scale a manufacturing engineering team.
• CAD experience (NX or equivalent) and MES familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFX reviews for PCBs, PCBAs, and assemblies across design and flight hardware.
• Develop manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronics, including PCBA integration.
• Set policies and standards for the Manufacturing Engineering org.
• Plan tooling, capacity investments, and manufacturing strategy ahead of designs.
• Pilot new assembly methods and automation technologies using data-driven analysis.
• Create custom tools and MES software to streamline workflows.
• Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes with design teams.
• Develop subassembly flow and ensure takt-aligned production timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices in electronics manufacturing.
• Collaborate on R&D of novel manufacturing technologies for current and future products.
