Job summary

K2 Space Corporation seeks a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing of spacecraft electronics, from PCBA integration to sub-assemblies, and to scale production. You will define flows, tooling, and DFx guidance across PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, and assemblies, ensuring manufacturability and throughput.

You will mentor junior engineers, optimize processes, and partner with design teams to reduce risk and improve quality in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering.
• 10+ years in high-volume production, manufacturing, integration, or design engineering with leadership in product development.
• Strong IPC standards knowledge for PCB/PCBA workmanship and inspection.
• Experience scaling from first articles to high-rate manufacturing.
• DFX principles guidance across PCBs, PCBAs, and mechanical assemblies.
• GD&T familiarity and ability to review electrical/mechanical designs.
• Experience with CAD tools (NX or equivalent) and MES systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFX reviews with design engineers for PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, and assemblies.
• Develop innovative manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronics and related sub-assemblies.
• Set manufacturing policy, standards, and best practices to mitigate risk.
• Plan strategy, tooling, and capacity investments for future product designs.
• Pilot new assembly methodologies and automation technologies using data-driven analysis.
• Create custom tools and MES software to support manufacturing workflows.
• Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes and improve manufacturability.
• Develop subassembly build flow and optimize production takt times.
• Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and peers on electronics manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive R&D of new manufacturing technologies.
