Job summary

K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites, scaling manufacturing for avionics systems and complex PCBA assemblies in a high-rate production environment. We seek engineers who can design and implement advanced manufacturing methods for spacecraft electronics and lead tooling development for flight hardware.

You will work with design teams to provide DFX guidance across PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, and assemblies, while collaborating with mechanical teams to optimize the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering.
• 3+ years in high-volume, rapid production environments in manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
• Experience with IPC standards for PCB/PCBA workmanship and inspection.
• Experience setting up a manufacturing/production floor for first article builds.
• Experience designing and implementing technologies for avionics subassembly manufacturing including PCBA assembly, wire harness manufacturing and PCBA/mechanical enclosure assembly.

Responsibilities

• Guide design engineers on PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, and assemblies for flight hardware and tooling.
• Develop innovative manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronic assemblies, including electromechanical sub-assemblies and harnessing.
• Create custom tools and processes to support the manufacturing technologies you create, including MES software
• Demonstrate the advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes, working with design teams to improve manufacturability.
• Develop subassembly build flow and iterate to create an efficient production flow for the satellite and ensure build times align with takt times.
• Collaborate with advanced manufacturing engineers to perform R&D of novel manufacturing technologies for current and future spacecraft products
