Job summary

K2Spacecorporation is seeking a senior-level Manufacturing Engineer to shepherd high-rate production of spacecraft electronics and assemblies. You will partner with design engineers, create scalable processes, and drive advanced manufacturing methods for flight hardware.

In this role you will lead first articles, optimize production flows, mentor staff, and collaborate with R&D to bring new technologies to production. This position offers strong growth in a fast-paced space-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 6+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment with production, integration, or design engineering roles.
• Track record in product development and process improvements.
• Strong IPC standards knowledge (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, J-STD-001) for PCB/PCBA work.
• Experience setting up a production floor for first articles and scaling to high-rate manufacturing.
• Deep avionics subassembly manufacturing knowledge including PCBA and harnessing.
• DFX guidance provided to design teams across PCBs and mechanicals.
• GD&T understanding with ability to review electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of conformal coating processes and related inspection/rework methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead design-for-excellence reviews with design engineers for flight hardware and tooling.
• Develop innovative manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Create tools and processes to support manufacturing technologies, including MES software.
• Demonstrate techniques on prototypes and improve manufacturability with design teams.
• Develop subassembly build flow and optimize production flow to meet takt times.
• Mentor junior manufacturing engineers and technicians on best practices.
• Collaborate on R&D of new manufacturing technologies for spacecraft products.
