Job summary

K2 Space Corporation in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead advanced avionics manufacturing, DFx, and production scale for spacecraft electronics. You will design manufacturing flows, mentor teams, and collaborate with design and mechanical engineers across PCBAs, harnesses, and machined parts.

The role emphasizes developing fabrication methods for integrated avionics, transitioning to high-rate production, and implementing Design-for-Excellence guidance

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment in engineering roles.
• Proven track record leading product development or process improvements.
• Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, J-STD-001 for PCB/PCBA workmanship.
• Experience setting up first article builds and scaling to high-rate production.
• Deep understanding of avionics subassembly manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFx reviews for PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, and assemblies.
• Develop manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronic assemblies, including sub-assemblies and harnessing.
• Create custom tools and processes, including MES software.
• Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes and iteratively improve designs.
• Develop subassembly build flow and optimize takt times for production.
• Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and peers on electronics manufacturing best practices.
• Collaborate with R&D to explore new manufacturing technologies for future spacecraft.
