Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Wilmington, MA, to lead electrical design for automated material-handling robots and related platforms. You will shape architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, and full system integration from concept through production, mentoring designers and coordinating with contract manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 12+ years of electrical design experience from concept to production.
• Expertise in Altium schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience with automation robotics or automotive platforms in harsh environments.
• System-level integration including interconnect, grounding, power, sensors, and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex electrical design across board, harness, and system levels.
• Drive concepts through production: architecture, schematic, layout, prototype, DVT, release.
• Lead PDP phase gates, design reviews, verification and release discipline.
• Develop schematics and PCB layouts in Altium, owning stackup, routing, and DFM.
• Apply DfX to ensure manufacturability, testability, and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate with PLM, CM, and suppliers to enable volume production.
• Write requirements and test plans; support EMC/EMI bring-up and mitigation.
• Mentor electrical designers and enable strong design reviews and documentation.
• Travel to customer sites, CMs, and test facilities as required.
• Ensure safety compliance and system-level integration with other teams.
