Job summary

ON.energy in Miami seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer (Product/Hardware) to own the hardware ecosystem road map for multi-megawatt Battery Energy Storage Systems and high‑voltage UPS systems. You will lead the next‑gen 1500VDC topologies and MV grid integrations to maximize uptime for hyperscale data centers.

You will define topologies, drive ISO/RTO grid code adaptation, manage OEM partnerships, lead root-cause analyses, steer UL/NRTL certification strategies, and mentor senior engineers to

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics or utility power systems.
• 10–15+ years of definitive engineering leadership in utility-scale energy storage, HV substations, or large-scale grid tie-ins.
• Deep experience modeling battery sizing, degradation, and EMS/SCADA communications (Modbus/DNP3) with local hardware.
• Mastery of power system analysis tools for short-circuit, coordination, harmonics, and arc flash studies.
• History of leading products through NRTL certification programs, especially UL 9540A.
• Proven ability to present complex concepts and risk mitigations to C-suite and enterprise clients.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Ownership: define standard topologies for modular, utility-scale power platforms.
• Grid Interconnection & ISO Authority: SME on ERCOT, PJM, CAISO grid codes and transient events.
• Strategic Vendor & OEM Selection: set procurement specs for Tier-1 battery and PCS OEMs.
• Ultimate Escalation Point: lead RCA for power electronics failures and thermal anomalies.
• Regulatory & Compliance Strategy: shape testing, listing, and certification roadmaps for NPIs.
• Technical Mentorship: grow engineering capabilities by mentoring senior engineers.
