Job summary

ON.energy is building the power infrastructure for the AI era, delivering multi-megawatt BESS and MV UPS systems for hyperscale data centers. The Principal Electrical Engineer will own the hardware architecture roadmap, spanning 1500VDC topologies and grid integrations, ensuring near-zero downtime for the world’s largest AI hubs.

The role requires 10–15+ years in utility-scale energy storage or high-voltage substations, with strong hands-on expertise in power electronics, controls, EMS/SCADA

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics or Utility Power Systems.
• Active PE license is highly preferred.
• 10 to 15+ years of engineering leadership in utility-scale energy storage, high-voltage substations, or large-scale grid tie-ins.
• Experience modeling battery sizing and degradation lifecycles.
• Proven ability to interface EMS/SCADA with local hardware via Modbus/DNP3.
• Experience using ETAP, SKM or PSCAD for complex studies.
• Led product certifications (UL 9540/ UL 9540A) and other NRTL processes.
• Excellent communication with C-suite and enterprise clients.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Ownership: Define standard topologies for modular, utility-scale power platforms.
• Grid Interconnection & ISO Authority: SME on ISO/RTO grid codes and transient events.
• Strategic Vendor & OEM Selection: Define procurement specs for Tier-1 OEMs.
• Ultimate Escalation Point: Lead RCA for power electronics failures and field issues.
• Regulatory & Compliance Strategy: Guide testing, listing, and certifications for NPIs.
• Technical Mentorship: Raise engineering capability and mentor senior engineers.
